Phonics & Spellings
Phonics
Each week we focus on a set of sounds (see below). We will frequently revisit sets to consolidate and embed learning. We listen for the sound (phoneme) at the beginning of words and practice writing the letter (grapheme) using correct formation. We also read and write simple words using our phonics.

Spellings
Over the course of the year your reception-aged child will learn to read and then spell the words on the Ra, b, c Spelling list below. These words are added to their reading bookmark to let you know what we are practising.
We revisit the words in small groups to ensure they are consolidated and embedded to enable your child to start to use them correctly in their independent sentence writing.
You can find more information, ideas and activities on how you can support your child at home with phonics, reading, spelling and writing under the tab ABOUT US - Welcome to EYFS.
