FAQ for Parents

As you will be aware, all schools have been instructed to shut to most pupils from Friday 20th March 2020  in response to the Coronavirus outbreak (Covid -19).

We will provide work to complete via this section of our website.  To facilitate this we have put together the following FAQ's to explain our approach.  If you are unclear about anything, you can still reach us via our office@terrington-st-clement.norfolk.sch.uk email account during term time and we will endeavour to reply as soon as possible (assuming staff are well enough to do so).

How often will work be set?

Work will be set at the beginning of each week during term time.

How will my child's work be marked?

We are encouraging learners to access the online content primarily such as Doodle Maths, Read Theory, Tackling Tables and Bug Club as these are self marking and will provide instant feedback.  There is some useful information about how parents can access Doodle Maths and track your child's progress here if you would like to do this.

Teachers are able to access information about pupil activity and progress on each of the online sites and will respond and offer rewards in the form or Terries or encouragement via Marvellous Me.  The set tasks posted each week, should be completed in Homework Books.  On return to school, we will clearly be unable to mark weeks worth of work but will celebrate effort in school and again reward with Terries or other class incentives.

What if my child is being looked after by someone else and there is limited opportunity to complete this work?

All we are asking is that you do what you can.  We do fully appreciate how tricky this will be for working parents/carers.  Any work that your child can complete will avoid them falling behind and help them to maintain their progress.  If your time is limited, focus on ensuring that you read regularly with your child and practise age appropriate maths skills either via Doodle Maths or for younger children by playing various counting games.

What if my child has a Special Educational Need?

All we are asking is that you attempt what you can.  It may be that some children will require further guidance or support than others.  We have planned our tasks with this in mind.  Most are open-ended so can be completed at the level your child is work.  The online learning is pitched at the level that your child is working.

How can I contact the school?

You can contact the school via our office email account office@terrington-st-clement.norfolk.sch.uk.  This will be monitored daily, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm and we will aim to respond the same day if possible.  If you have a safeguarding concern about the welfare of a child this should be reported to the Norfolk Child Advice and Duty Service (CADS) on 0344 800 8020
