Terrington St Clement Community School

A traditional school with traditional values where

we aspire, succeed and thrive

What does my reception child need to bring?

These are the items that your child will need when they start with us in reception

  • Uniform, it does help develop a sense of belonging and community.
  • Bag: you may wish your child to bring a bag of spare clothes, socks, underwear for occasional accidents or water play. These all must be labelled with your child's name. We encourage that these bags are left on learners' coat pegs, so they can be quickly located when needed.  We will then send these home when they need a refresh and at the end of each half-term.
  • If your child is not yet toilet trained by the time they start school, you will need to ensure they have a supply of nappies, wipes and nappy sacks at school. These can be kept in a bag on their peg, and we will send this home when it needs replenishing.
  • Reading book bag: this helps your child organise their things such as reading book bundles, leaflets and letters and their drawings.
  • Named water bottle for lunch times, juice, squash and water only. We do offer water and milk at lunchtime for hot lunches.
  • PE kit: white t-shirt, blue/ black shorts and plimsolls/ trainers. These will be kept at school and sent home at the end of each half-term.
  • Coat: all learners access the outdoor area every day. Whilst outdoor time may be reduced in extreme weather, they will still go out in light rain. Therefore, it is important learners have the appropriate clothing to do so. This includes a hat, gloves and wellies for very wet weather or snow.
  • During warmer weather, learners will be asked to wear suncream when at school. We encourage you to apply this before school. Please ensure you also provide a sun hat to protect them when outside in hot weather.
